Meta’s Llama 4 AI Model Set to Launch
Meta Platforms is nearing the release of its latest large language model, Llama 4, expected to debut by the end of April 2025. This new model is being fine-tuned to address performance gaps identified in key areas like reasoning and math when compared to competitors such as OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Google’s Gemini.
Innovative Architecture: Mixture of Experts
Llama 4 will feature a “mixture of experts” (MoE) architecture—where only a subset of parameters is activated for each query—providing task-specific precision and efficiency. Meta is also drawing from strategies used by leading research groups like DeepSeek.
Massive Investment in AI Infrastructure
To support this innovation, Meta plans to invest up to $65 billion in AI infrastructure in 2025. This includes supercomputing resources, custom silicon, and high-efficiency data centers to fuel Llama 4’s real-time applications.
Why It Matters
Llama 4 could redefine benchmarks in large language model performance and solidify Meta’s place in the generative AI race.
