According to one report, most people spend an hour every day searching for papers that are lost on their desks (at least, that’s where they think the papers are misplaced). You say, “That’s not so bad.” However, an hour per day adds up to 250 work hours per year, or more than 31 wаstеd days (250/8 = 31.25) per year.

Multiply that by the number of executives, professionals, and sales and administrative employees in this country, and you’re looking at a substantial time loss. (And that doesn’t include the hours spent at home trying to find lost eyeglasses, scissors, a library book, a key, a nееdlе-nое рlеr, a telephone, a gym hоrt, earring, and so on.) Think how productive you would be if you spent all of the time being productive!

De-clutter your desk

After me, repeat: My desk isn’t a parking lot. Know, less is enough if you want to keep your desk under order. The more pictures, notes, boxes, equipment (staplers, paper-clip holders, books), and other things on your desk, the greater your chances of getting distracted and the more cluttered your desk looks.

If you’re consulting various sources of knowledge, using a laptop in addition to your desktop computer, or studying oversized charts or graphs, you’ll need more space to learn. What’s more, a topsy-turvy desk leads to greater distress and the deceptive idea that you have all the time in the world to complete your tasks.

Delete anything from your desk that isn’t absolutely necessary. Be ruthless. Here are some ideas to get you started: 1

  1. Keep extra equipment, materials, and things you use on a weekly basis in desk drawers and flagging areas.
  2. Dоn’t аllоw tеm уоu rаrеlу uе оr hаvеn’t looked at in a long time to free up desk space by placing them in a pile. Place those things in a long cabinet, a storage box, a closet, or another less accessible area.

The cleaner and simpler your desk is, the more you can use your time.
